"Made in Oman" vs "Works in Oman" — and why we verify
How we decide whether an app is genuinely Omani, merely available here, or one for visitors — and why every listing starts as a research lead.
Every app on this site carries one of three labels. The difference matters, so here’s exactly what each means — and how we decide.
Made in Oman
Built by Omani founders, an Omani company, or a team based in Oman. This is the label people care about most, so it’s the one we’re strictest about. An app doesn’t get the badge because it feels local — it gets it once we’ve reviewed ownership evidence: commercial registration, founder information, HQ, regulator licensing, or credible press.
Until that review happens, the app still appears — but marked “pending review”. We’d rather show you an honest lead than a confident guess.
Works in Oman
Regional or global apps that are genuinely usable by people in Oman — a dedicated Oman storefront, local payment support, real delivery coverage. Being on the App Store isn’t enough; it has to actually work here.
For Visitors
Apps a tourist installs to get around, connect, eat and explore during a stay — from eSIMs to tour booking. Some are global, and that’s fine: this section is about visitor usefulness, not origin.
Why “research lead, not fact”
Our directory started from public records — directory listings, app stores, news. Those are leads, not verified truth. So nothing is presented as certain until a human has checked it, and every app page shows its evidence and a last-reviewed date. Spot something wrong? Every page has a one-tap report / suggest a correction link. That feedback loop is the whole point.
